A business intelligence conference can be a good way to network with like-minded professionals, get best practice information, and get some technical, hands-on introduction to the technology. They are highly recommended.
All of the big vendors have a yearly user conference. These
usually go for 3-5 days (and are usually in a nice city!) With Oracle,
IBM, and SAP, these can included several different projects. Most big
vendors also have symposiums that are more localized meet-and-greet type
meetings without as much fanfare. In addition, several IT and industry
groups also host their own events and are worthwhile to attend.
